Here's how I finally decided to make indoor hanging a reality for me. It's unobtrusive and was pretty quick to do. The angle metal is the kind with lots of holes, that I had laying in the shop. The hooks are from a tie-down strap that had been retired. There's really not much to it. I used 5 - 5/16" x 2.5" lag screws into a stud on one side, and 6 - 3/16" x 3" tapcons on the other side into a block wall.
I decided to use the angle metal instead of a eye bolt so I could have multiple anchors in the bracket. This would prevent denting the drywall. If it ever comes down, the holes can be patched easy. It also gave me the ability to adjust my attachment point up and down easily so I didn't have to get it perfect, as I would with an eye bolt.
Works great!
