Is it primaloft, just based on what you say your insulation is?
Hi all,
Thanks for replying, I used a primaloft mummy style sleeping bag for this one, it is by far my favourite UQ.
The original lining was a man made fibre rated for 4 season use, if you guys know the way a sleeping bag is made you will know that they sew the insulation to the top layer then the bottom layer which is then sewn like a tube and sealed at each end.
What i did with that was open up 3 sides and took the top layer of insulation out and replaced it with primaloft filling, i got this from the manufacturer when i was a gear tester for mountain equipment in my climbing days, two jackets worth of insulation went into this.
The reason for the mummy style bag was that it had the shape of the body already, i took the head section off and cut the shoulder baffle off too. Cut it the length i needed and then added my insulation, at this stage i also took the time to sew nylon tubes to run my elastic bungee through, so it is free running along my elastic. after sewing it together i added some cord at the top end to gather the UQ up and prevent drafts on my back.
Hope this helps answer a few questions guys.
I love elevation!!
