Change in plans. I'll roll in on Sat with Fronkey.

I'm really looking forward to this, especially after a failed camping attempt this past weekend
When it seems like the night will last forever
And there's nothing left to do but count the years
When the strings of my heart start to sever
And stones fall from my eyes instead of tears
I will walk alone by the black muddy river
And dream me a dream of my own

Sorry to here that Don I was looking forward to meeting your wife. The next hang hopefully.

So the plan at this point is to meet at Porcupine Lake on Thursday and head out sometime Friday morning. We will be stopping around Old Grade Road, either east or west of it. Thinking currently is west of the road.
My thought was to hand some Yellow caution tape in the trees if we cross the road and camp on the east side of the road. So if you meet us there look for yellow streamers. No yellow tape we are still west of the road. I will have my gps and try to make sure we camp within a mile of the road either side.
So then Saturday night we will camp somewhere around Mineral lake Road( lake three campground- not in the campground) with the same yellow tape idea. Currently thinking is east of the road.
No yellow tape we are west of the road, yellow tape visible we are east of it. Again trying to stay within a mile of the road give or take.

Ending up somewhere between Penokke Overlook/Kornstead road Sunday night. Thinking of parking vehicles in the city of Mellon as Konstead road is closed currently.

This gives us about 9 miles on Friday, 11 on Saturday, 10 roughly on Sunday, then about 3to 4 Monday morning. depends on were we stay exactly Sunday night. We can leave cars at the Penokee overlook, if its to many miles on Monday.

OK long winded post, let me know if this doesn't work for people or if you might have a better idea.

There is a nice campsite on the Marengo River about a mile east of the Old Grade Road. We stayed there on the first NH 2 years ago.

From what I've read and some pictures that I've seen, there is a nice place where the trail crosses the Brunsweiler(sp)River just about a mile east of Lake 3. I believe the river runs between Beaverdam Lake and Mineral Lake.

There is an incredibly small chance that I might be able to join in.

The plans look great to me Snipen. Thanks for the maps. I should be up there about 5:30 or so.

Hi Randy. I knew about the campsite on the Marengo river, trying to space out the hike decently though. Will discus it Friday morning and see what everyone thinks.
Didn't know about the spot east of Lake Three though. Sounds like it might be a nice spot as its about where I was thinking of stopping.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it and hope you can make it. I will make a post of any changes discussed Friday morning as we shuttle vehicles around.

I plan on being at Porcupine Lake around noon/ 1 o'clock. Doing some fishing, collecting firewood, and of course stealing the best spot

Wanted to add the ticks have been out for awhile and are kind of bad this year. The mosquitos have also come out and also seem to be bad right now.
I have a email out asking about trail conditions as well, but everything I've seen is expect very wet trails.
