    Luckily I haven't been there when it has snowed that deep. Maybe 2" max for me. The wind always blows there so except wind chill to play into the temps. Snowshoes IMO are not needed.

    Jeff, if you guys camp where I think you are going to there is a stream within 50'.

    Hey slowhike, who would have thought we would get the weather we did that weekend. That was one of the best weekends I have ever had there.

    the coldest trip i did there (one feb) there wasn`t that much snow except in drifts.
    probably the best way to know will be to call & talk to the rangers that week.
    ewker... the guy that was in your group that said he lived near by (frigerator)... maybe he could be of help?

    I will email him and see what he says about temps there at the end of Jan. Of course you know as well as I do you expect the worse and hope for the best...lol

    I forgot, you can always check weather.com or Noaa.com for Whitetop, Va. It is about the closest you will get
