Got Bitten and it really itches

I finally got to DIYing this weekend and I was having trouble pulling myself away from the machine. I cant keep thinking of what I am going to make next.

So far I added tie outs to my Guide Gear Tarp so it can hang rectangular (Thanks Gargoyle and Eflat for the material...from a long time ago)

I then sewed some "snake skins" for it

I'm thinking a bishop bag is next..just trying to keep it simple and get a better feel for the machine and technique.

I was surprised that the snake skins offer so little compressibility....I think space-wise it makes more sense to keep it in the stock stuff sack but for ease of use it is better in the skins. But I may not have packed it well.

and finally for whom ever was following my previous thread I decided to go with the Singer 247 over the 201 due to a very over shedding Labrador and fear his hair will get sucked up into the 201 if it was out of its cabinet. Now if only dog hair was as warm and down......

Good looking work Avi. I have snakeskins on my suspension/bugnet/hammock and also notice the lack of compressibility. I do put the skins in a stuff sack and have thought about just using the sack and doing away with the skins. When set up they do keep the hammock up and out of the way under the tarp so they will probably stay.

Thanks Olddog....you keep everything in one set of skins? I have extra room in my skins..so maybe I'll just include the hammock in it as well...then it wont be as much wasted space in my pack...I really do like how it sets up now and would love to keep it this way but pack space is always a priority especially with my synthetic sleeping bag...

Looks good. I had the itch....lost weight, got a gummy eye, gout, flatulence....but sure had some good gear when I recovered.
    Good fun.

Avi, my single line suspension, diy bugnet and diy hammock all fit in the skins. This along with hugger straps all compresses into the mid size waterproof bag from outdoor products sold at Walmart. Not a large package but does take some time to stuff in the bag.
