Mission accomplished HH Bugnet zipper installed

I've been wanting a bugnet zipper for a while now and finally got my wife to take on the task. Once she figured out how to do it.....viola....done. I'm impressed as always with her professionalism on the project. I guess I'll take her somewhere special... I'll post pics in my gallery for those who may want to consider the zipper mod.

That's pretty sweet. Is it just the head end that unzips?

You should take her somewhere really nice.

    HH bugnet

Great sewing, why can't Tom do the same? Thanks for sharing.

I recently took my HH to the local tailor's shop to have zips installed on both sides from the tie-outs back up to the head end. They did a TERRIBLE job. So, under the cover of darkness, I spirited my wife's sewing machine to my office, and, after removing the "tailor's" work stitch by stitch, I fabricated a patch from 1 1/2" grosgrain and learned to sew. The results are very pleasing in function, if not perfect in form. Aside from learning a new trick, this old dog now knows not to trust just anyone with something they don't understand. And now that I'm an experienced fabricator, I'm on to making a storm dodger for my hex tarp. I'm feeling empowered. There may be no limits!!!

Yeah, I e-mailed Tom several months ago to ask if there was any reason that it couldn't or shouldn't be done, and if it was feasible, did they offer the retrofit as a custom service. Their response was essentially that they had never tried to put zips on and didn't know why anyone would want it done anyway! I'll bet Preacher's Wife could stay fully occupied doing the job if she so chose.

That would certainly simplify using a hammock sock with a hennessy.

2Q, Good work on the zips. The level of skill is impressive. I'd like to see a detail picture of the head of the hammock, where the two sides join. My effort resulted in my being able to unzip both sides, but the net is still attached to the hammock at the very top. How did you get around the corner? Thanks.

Our little secret. I am wanting to make myself a chocolate brown hammock. I will be putting a (if I kind find it) hot pink zipper all the way around the top, so that I can put a bug net, or an over cover on. Plus, if I can find the right material I want to make a 10X12 BROWN cathedral tarp with pink reinforcements. Hot Pink guy lines, and hot pink webbing. Hmmm maybe I might even do all the stitching in pink. If Dwight can find all the material to make this then I will try to hike with him again. Shorter distance of course.
