    Hello from the UK

    Hey everyone,

My name is Charlie, thought I'd introduce myself.
Ive been watching shug vids on U tube for some entertainment (he's legend)had ago at building a hammock using the whipping method, some rings and webbing. it's made from a breathable water resist ripstop material. Very impressed as to how comfortable they are. I'm not going to be a serious hammock user, but I do like to get involved. I may in time start experimenting with double skins and mesh. (already have a 10x10 tarp) and have no issue staying out under that.
I've been reading with interest about the whoopie sling, cant find any cord avaliable in the UK with the strength of the cord you guys have. (Ive made them using paracord but would not entertain suporting myself from it).

thanks for the info you guys provide.

    Welcome Ch@rlie,
Try a search under "throw lines" or "arborist supplies" for some of the better ropes.
2.2mm is good or 1.75mm rope will work.
You want a hollow core braid for spliceability.

    Welcome to HF Ch@rlie.

I think I came across Shug's cousin hiking through California. He isn't as entertaining as Shug is, but like Shug he's an impressive dude.

    Hi Charlie, welcome to HF

Don't worry about sourcing Amsteel specifically, English Braids and Marlow ropes make equivalent lines in the UK. English braids make a 2mm dynamic line rated to over 900kg. Just google Marlow D12, English Braids dynamic line and dyneema braid-you will find many vendors to get you Whoopied up.

    Thanks for the welcome guys,

dyneema & splicing.. I am familiar with both product and technique, used in the past for flying lines while kite buggying.
