    DIY Hennessey Hammock - Completed

Many thank to my friends here at HF.net - I completed my DIY HH a couple weeks ago, and finally got a chance to at least hang it in the yard. Material is the 1.5 RP (seconds) from Scott at BWDD, and the tree straps are from Scott as well. Very impressed with the products he sells.

I went with Knotty's gather he explained, and really like it compared the the channel gather, W gather, or W gather with wingtips (edges pulled out a little further) as I like to refer to. Right now, just using a zip tie as the constraint. Using webbing temporarily until the magnificent Opie sends me my Christmas present.

So, a couple minor lessons learned - As you can see in one of my photos, I went a little overboard on the pull-out strap - used some left over 3/4" webbing, should of used simple grosgrain. Next lesson learned was to relax when it comes to the netting, and not worry to much about how taut looking it appears, let the pull-outs adjust it. Way too much pinning.

Overall, great hammock. Attached are some pictures with my daughter inside (doesn't show the lie that much), and a picture of the $1.50 aluminum tent pole, now toggles I made too. I will be posting pictures of my DIY WBBB shortly, almost done.

    Cheers -

Nice choice of color and very well made.

Good job. Really nice looking work. What were the dimensions of the rip-stop before you started sewing?

    Wow!
I wish my bug net looked that nice.
I've finally figured out how to do decent looking seams, but am still way behind Sam in my bug netting skills.
