Yosemite Sam: Are you trying to make me look a fool?
Bugs: You don't need me to make you look like a fool.
Yosemite Sam: Yer deerrrnnn right I don't!
Thanks for your post - Most of my materials came from Scott at BWDD. You can get 4 yards of ripstop from him close to $3 - $4 a yard. The same price for about 3 yards of no-see-um from Quest Outfitters @ $3.25 per yard. Quest for $1.00 per yard of zipper (3 - 4 yards), couple of zipper pulls, stoppers. etc. Thread came from Scott as well. And finally, Walmart for the grosgrain - 2 rolls at 1.79 a piece for 7/8".
Haven't tallied it up - but that should give you a since of what it costs.
I followed HC4U instructions http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=670 - but added 6" inches to the length. I did this for a couple reasons - I wanted to see if it laid flatter, and wanted to try out different compression points, if you will - the point where the gather is made. I have seen some photos where the gather has about 2 inches of fabric hanging out, to some that have 6+ inches hanging out. I figured if it became loose, I can always move up the compression point, or have the option for a channel, etc.
HC4U has some great details to make, just go slow, and visualize it - the seam at the top, where the zipper is shown, what method you want to use to strengthen the no-see-um to the zipper. That last part was the most difficult. I can truly see why the WBBB is made the way it is (with a piece of rip between the zipper and the no-see-um).
Great job! I am glad to see all the hard work pay off - what a fantastic looking peice of gear. You should be proud.
Top notch craftsmanship. Looks roomy
