Just a quick question- does grosgain stretch? Also, how strong is it?
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

gros grain does not "stretch" but it will "elongate". The difference being that if you load it higher than its capacity it will distort shape and stay that way. Gros grain is not intended for as a replacement for webbing so don't use it for suspension or un-supported weight loads. Tie out loops are probably as heavy a use as I would put it to. If sewn to a base, like around a tarp edge it is bomb proof and much more pliable than webbing.
It is a very useful material and extremely versatile. But does have its limits.
