Snake Skins - Best approach to use?

Made some no-see-ums snake skins for my 12x12 guide gear tarp, and pulled them on... first side was great, until I pulled the second side and got the clump to deal with. Since snake skins are tapered, it was my impression that the outside corners are to be left loose, and that part just was pulled in at the end in the wider section. Am I doing something stupid here?

Skinny ends to the outside, wider part of the taper goes towards to middle of the tarp.
With a 12x12 GG, you may need to customize the size of your skins.
Normally there is a clump of tarp that needs to be deflated and tucked in. Rolling the tarp helps.

I do a bit of coaxing the tarp toward the ends as I pull the snakeskin on. I usually give it a loose double fold to help manage the material.

I used the sticky thread instructions, so the skins are ~7ft each (subtract the rolled hem, etc) - therefore, I have about couple feet of extra skin. I will have to try the rolled approach or take it in steps and tuck a little after a foot or two of pull.

Noting the extra two feet, are they suppose to overlap, skin over skin in the middle?

mine do. I think it helps keep the 'clump' from escaping ..YMMV.

I lap 'em ....I put a shock-cord on one skin to cinch it down on the over-lap. Secure.

Thanks Shug - that was going to be my nice approach (once this wind dies down here), and see how much overlap I have.

Best approach is from the side as to not anger the snake skins and have an avenue of escape in case they decide to attack.
