Safari (Unsung Hero of hammocks) don't get no respect

My first Hammock was a Safari, I just never loved the bottom entry and moved over to a Clark. I did like my safari for it's roominess. Someday I'll send it off to 2Q and ZQ and convert it to a side opener.

So has anyone "solved" the insulation issue with the Safari being so big that standard UQ's and such won't fit it?

I'm considering one of these, but I'd want to make sure I had a comfortable way to insulate it or the wife wouldn't hang again!

I think I've solved the insulation issue with any hammock. I've used it down to 17 deg and a co-worker has went down to 12. It is the easiest and I think lightest thing you can do. Just shove a thermorest mat down your sleeping bag. That's all. I've done it on a TTTM , a Clark Jungle and a Hennessy. Shove your pad into your sleeping bag and lay on it.

I also wanted to ask. I have a scout and a safari . The ridge lines look like the same rope ? I would think the safari would be bigger ?

I love the size and comfort of the Safari. My husband likes it so much, he doesn't want to hang in any of his other hammocks. He has a Safari with fly and without, thanks to there October sale...

Well ironically, I think about any UQ will fit with the exception of the HHSS. You just might have do do a little rigging so the suspensions will be long enough. For example, here is my WB Yeti on a HH Safari no net:

This works just fine, and I believe my JRB MW worked fine also.

I have very little experience, but just wanted to say I love my Safari. I'm 6'5''/300lbs. I spent my 4th & 5th nights in it in the BSF last week. Temp was 29*/34* at night and I used my JRB Nest for the first time w/a 30* bag for a top quilt. I slept great and stayed warm. It was a great 3 days for my son and I. I doubt I would have tried it w/out all the insight I've gained from this forum. Thanks to all who take the time to share their experiences and knowledge.

I guess I am one of the few, the proud, the Safari owners. Love mine, and have no problem getting comfortable in it. It's my main hammock as far as I am concerned.
