Thanks for your feedback, guys. I think I will give the single layer a try with 1.9oz ripstop. I have to check my stash and see if there is enough left.
I have never seen a Claytor and don't know too much about them. What width would you recommend?
A few more questions on the end channels:
How wide do you make the channel? I'm guessing about 2"?
How wide is the folded-back piece with all the lines of stitching? Is 6" about right?
What width webbing would you recommend for reinforcement? Is 1" sufficient? Any preference for a certain material (nylon, polyester)?
Do you have to reinforce any area other than the very end of the opening?
How long does the opening in the bug net need to be? I plan on using omnitape instead of a zipper. I hate zippers.
And finally: I converted to a structural ridgeline this weekend and like it so far. Will a structural ridgeline interfere with the netting on this type of hammock? Would it go inside the netting, and if so, how?
You can tell I'm a newbie. Too many questions.
