    Big old boy Question?

This may be a dumb question, but I am new to the forum and to the hammock thing. So here goes. I am a big hoss six foot 3 and weigh in over 280. I use an Eno Dn and want to use a suspension that will not stretch too much. Will the Whoopie work for me? Right now I use the Eno slap strap pro.

Thanks for any help you can give.

You'll never stretch a whoopie made with Amsteel, Bigbogg.

I use huggers made from Harbor Freight tie down straps--you'd never stretch those either.

FWIW, you're not much bigger than me...

    Whoopies are fine for you.

Most are made from either 7/64" or 1/8" Amsteel, which are rated for 1600lbs and 2500lbs respectively. The splices done properly de-rate the cording less than 10%.

With the average strength of 7/64 amsteel being 1,600 lbs.... I think you'll be just fine!

Thanks for the replies. I am for sure going to make the jump. Now all I have too is figure out how to do it. What do you all think is the best setup for the double nest for the Whoopie?

Big, you and I are the same dimensions and I hang from 1.8mm Dynaglide with a 1000 pound tensile. Youll be fine with 7/64 and Ive had an ENO double loaded to almost 400 pounds using 7/64.

The easiest would be to swap the existing suspension attached to the ENO using the fixed eye of the sling. Run that through the channel and essentially larkshead the fixed eye to the hammock. Then attach to your webbing with a suitable clip/toggle.

If you haven't gotten whoopies yet, I can set you up with some when I get my group buy amsteel. Let me know. Otherwise there are great cottage guys here.
