Young leader with 2nd New Forest North (Stanley's Own) King Scout troop, and an Explorer Scout with Relentless Explorers (4th NFN - Eling). Sadly the only hangar at the moment, but give it some time...

Barry got us started on hammocks as SM of Troop 651 in Billerica, MA. At Camp Wanocksett in 2010, we had both leaders and 4 boys in the trees (Our troop slogan was "Men in Trees"). Since moving to VA, my two sons are the only hangers in the unit. They are in Team 94 in Stafford, VA and I am a Bear Den leader.

ASM Troop 22 Orlando FL. 2 1/2 leaders doing the monkey thing. We're working on cutting the rest of the troop's ties to the trailer but change is slow.

Troop 909 of Tulsa, OK. I did a presentation at roundtable two years ago on hammocks. I showed the scouters my first hammock, a net hammock that I put a pad in to lay flat, up to my Hennessy expedition. I still get strange looks at what I sleep in when I go to Camporee and Rendezvous. But my back doesn't hurt at ## years of age when I go camping. Ha Ha.

Scoutmaster for troop 7328, Arizona. We're in the middle of making hammocks with built-in bug nets for the entire troop. I'm a little upset now that there is no sewing merit badge! A HUGE THANK YOU to Randy/Papa Smurf who sourced our materials. We're hoping to have our first hanging next month.

Former Scoutmaster for troop 1102 in Virginia where we converted the entire troop to hammocks after a heavy rain "floated" the tenters in the highly-impacted camp site. The three hangers enjoyed the shrieking from the comfort of our nests.

On a side-note, I'm glad to hear the feedback on the alcohol stove issue. I was near cursing when I read that new policy, but upon closer inspection I can see that I can still use several of my alky stoves that are commercially made. I appreciate the insight, "while not recommended, it is not yet prohibited outright."

We have 5 leaders hanging with #6 in the process of getting a hammock.
Our troop has just transitioned from older scouts that Eagled out into new young scouters. One of them is already hanging.
Last night at our meeting, I was talking about two new tents I'd just gotten to replace our old gear when one of the boys suggested we get hammocks instead!!! (I was so proud!!)

BSA Troop 326 from Martinsville Virginia - Almost all adults are hammockers and about 1/2 of the boys sleep in hammocks at least some of the time.

    hi from HRM hammocker

The leaders in our Troop (5th CH in Dartmouth) tend to sleep in hammocks. Our Venturers are entirely hammockers if you don't know them already (Bluenose Climbers on this forum; they built the Geodesic Dome to hang their hammocks).

My son's Troop has no hammockers, but he wants one... since they do a LOT of serious wilderness camping, I'm guessing there'll soon be wider interest
