i want to put a ridge line in my sb pro, this will mean i have to make a hole in the netting at each end (foot and head) do y'all have any suggestions as for reinforceing the hole to prevent ripping of the net..or am i wanting something that is non productive..also do i use the permethrin full strength or what..
A ridgeline inside the hammock would seem to partially negate some of the room created by the pulling up of the netting. Anyway to integrate a structural ridgeline on the outside and have it do double duty and hold up the bugnet?
Permethrine should be diluted to a 0.5% concentration from what I have read.

I added a ridgeline but like Bubba asked I put it on the outside then hooked the netting to it. The netting is a bit floppy but doesn't hang in my face. Sure made a difference in the lay (more comfortable. I'm 5' 6" and ended with a 100" ridgeline. Using the Skeeter Beeter Pro
I installed a ridgeline on the inside of the bugnet but still used the loops to hold up netting from the outside from time to time. I liked having a ridge line inside the net to hang a light from, etc. I have since swapped to a Black Bird, so do not use the SB that much any longer.

If the objective is a consistent hang, the structural ridge line makes sense.
OTOH, if the goal is to suspend the netting simply, consider another option.
On the Grand Trunk site instructions show how to hang the netting. The idea is to run two parallel lines through the loops on the netting then tie them off on the supporting trees. The way that I set it up I only used one. I ran it through both support loops on one side then back through the support loops on the other side then tied the line together making one long loop, like a Yeti suspension. Next I hung the hammock and simply stretched the loop to hook to the suspension hook on either end. That gave me plenty of space without needing to tie off the netting separately.
i have been trying different methods of suspending the netting lately i thought about using the folding clips found in offices to hold papers don`t know the real name for them but.. ( not a regular paper clip)to clip the tabs to the shock cord and take up some of the slack i don`t use much sag in my sb pro and it is good for me..i know some need more some less that`s the great part of a hammock, dial in your own personal setting..oh and instead of using knots on the shock cord i use cord locks purchased at Wal Mart they come 4 in a box and work quick and easy...

on my diy jungle hammock (has a similar netting design as a SB) I sewed a small 1" patch of grossgrain at each end where the ridgeline penetrates the netting and then burned a small diameter hole through the grossgran and netting.
