    yep take a picture canibal...

truthfully, i'd obsess over any hobby i ended up having. if it was golf i'd have the latest shoes and new clubs and a new bag and OH MAN i NEED to get this new driver it's got a 2 millimeter bigger sweet spot than my current one...

thankfully it's not golf, b/c then i'd stab my eyes out with boredom

my obsession is pretty solid. here's my list of things....

    Hammocks:
    claytor
    wbbb 1.1
    wb traveler

    Tarps:
    Oes spinn deluxe

    TQ:
    Golite Ultra 20
    wb black mamba

    UQ:
    Winter crowsnest
    Leighlo summer uq

    packs:
    osprey aether
    osprey exos 58 (my fav)
    granite gear virga
    just ordered a zpacks pack

swapped out all my stuff sacks for cuben...

    areas i've been good at:
    1 knife (frost mora)
1 means of water treatment (steripen)
1 bought stove (pocket rocket), all others DIY (wood stove favorite)
2 cookpots (gsi kettle, backcountry ti 700 - the new go to)

EDITED: it appears i need a second tarp. what if i have a friend who wants to join me and we get out there and he doesn't have a tarp? that could ruin his entire experience and i'd be to blame. i better look into things...

i have a 2001 ford focus. when i go to a hang i take all tarps, quilts and hammocks. my trunk has more $$ in it then the car is worth. hook up the trailer with 5k of kayak gear and i think my insur agent would faint if he knew.

It is always that way. Joining is dangerous.

I too have more hammocks than friends I would like to invite on a hang. I also once succumb to the evils of small boat magazine and that cost me and cost and cost.... I thought a wife was expensive till I bought.....sailboats yes with a "s" five of them, and some came with their own boats than hung off the their sterns as tenders. Hammocks are a joy and I don't see a need to stop, after all I am in control as long as I stay away from the water. did some one say kayaks, they are nice too. I am in control, I am in control, I am in control, control, huuummmmmmmm
Whether trail or paddle don't you know
My hammock is the way to go
There peace and solitude I find
To ease all troubles from my mind
Both body and soul revel in delight
As day surrenders to inky night

We all have the gear addiction but its better then some alternatives. At least thats what i keep telling my wife. The engine i built for my last truck cost me close to 8 grand, Try opening a summit racing catalog and not spending 500 bucks every time!
This is a much healthier alternative. A few hundred bucks every now and then isnt so bad. Could be much worse, we could own a boat.

I can't believe the prices you guys pay for your gear....
Is it that expensive in the US ?

For the hammocking, i have purchsed the following:
    (re-calculated the prices to usd)
    48,- usd Hammock - Ticketothemoon
48,- usd Hammock - Brand i forgot (for my girlfriend)
30,- usd Hammock - Tenth Wonder XL (for future modifications like adding bugnet, according to the video of 'hangnout' on this forum)
49,- usd 3x3 meters DDHammocks tarp
57,- usd 3x4.5 meters DDHammocks tarp

    Additional stuff:
    50,- usd max for
    - 1" webbing (for the hammock)
    - 4 O rings (for the webbin on the hammock)
    - Additiional ropes (ridge line, etc, etc)
    - 8 caribiners
    - 5mm Elastic cord for the tarp

    And DIY:
    - Hobo wood stove from a bean can
    - Underquilt from a old sleeping bag, based on the instructions found here

Other missing stuff I already owned, like sleeping bag, backpack, and so on, and so on.
