The big figure 9's are only rated at 150lbs each for a total of 300 lbs, is that enough extra for some one that is 220 and tosses and turns a lot at night?

I personally like the Idea of leaving the spectra attached using a double d=ring strap with 1 inch HW Polypro webbing and using the garda hitch mentioned HERE

The question would be how much webbing? I live in Oregon and we have some HUGE trees. Would 25' be overkill?

Another option I like is the http://www.rei.com/product/765517

You don't 'need' loops on both ends. Like I said earlier in the thread, it doesn't weigh any more, and the added cost if you buy them that way is very very minimal. I simply like having a backup loop on the other end, in case the stitching ever failed me so that I could just pull the strap out and use the other end.

    YMMV.

Thanks for the welcome, I have actually been lurking for some time.

It is all SHUG's fault, I ran across one of his videos...and the rest is history!

I have setup all three of my hammocks with the this system now. It wasn't the knot tying that was the pain, it was the un-tying the morning after

    Thanks Again

ordered a set of the 1" "seat belt straps" with 2" loops on the ends (10' long) and the 1" cinch buckles.

Got me wondering, is 1" big enough ??

Yes, 1" is the appropriate size for both webbing and the buckles.

This thread has been very helpful...thank you!
I have a ENO Doublenest and I've been playing around with whoopie slings, mainly because I liked making them. But I have not been happy with the setup, so I have been looking at the double rings vs. the cinch buckle. I think I will order 2 12' double loop 1" webbing slings and cinch buckles and try that.

Unless someone has a great sales pitch for the rings.

    Thanks again.
