    Thumbs down Noisy Tarp

Is spinn or cuben any quieter than sil or PU coated ripstop in the rain? I had a hard time falling asleep the other night when it was pouring down rain. I'm not sure that I could get used to sleeping with ear plugs on either.

What do you do to deal with the noise?

spin is louder ..... but thats just me.
i like the sound of rain on my tarp..... it' just something your going to need to get use to
you will have it in a tent as well..so there is no really way around it
the only thing you can do is just not hike in the rain
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

It's not even close to as loud in a tent, IMO. It wasn't so much the rain that bothered me, it was the big atomic bomb rain drops that were coming off the tree. Right when I was about asleep one of those would nail the tarp!I think that if I pitch my tarp closer to the hammock the drops won't be so loud as well. But then I don't get the good view in semi porch mode!

I think you're right, though. I think I just have to get used to it because I'm definitely not going to stop camping in the rain!

I like the sound of the occasional drop hitting Amsteel under tension...like an upright bass.

Love the sound of rain on a tarp. Cuben and spinn isn't going to help. 'm thinking atighter pitch will make it deflect more.

The tighter the pitch, the higher the note. Try taught on one side, less on the other, then maybe you'll get two part harmony
