Beautiful photos. Especially like the "glowing cottonwood"and the arches. There's nothing like the canyons of AZ and UT.

DiscoveryDiver, we did the section of Coyote Gulch accessed from Hurricane Wash TH all the way down to the Escalante River. So, we were downstream of the Spooky and Peekaboo slot canyons. Those look awesome, too! They are definitely on the list for the next visit.

I see...so you started at 40-mile Ridge trailhead and ended at Hurricane wash trail head...

How did you work the vehicles...leave one at Hurricane and the other at 40-mile...?

Also, how many days?

Awesome awesome awesome... Very beautiful backcountry ya got there. It's refreshing to see some different scenery than just your standard forest.

As best as I can tell, there has been some streambed shifting since I was there in '06. It appears your waterfall pic was taken in this same place, but your shower stall was dry.

This section was probably my favorite.

Anyway, nice report, and thanks for the pictures to remind em of another great place.

We actually just did out and back from the Hurricane Wash TH, which is right on Hole in the Rock Road, so no shuttle necessary. We hiked in on Friday and ended up hiking out on Saturday night, but you could easily spend three days on this trip. The high mileage on Saturday was just so we could make sure to have time for Bryce Canyon on Sunday.

Thanks olzeke! It does look like quite a bit has changed. I'm sure that the floods that come through here are quite impressive. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing. I spent a month or so down there last year but I had not found the hammock yet. Those pics have got me looking forward to some time a little north of Escalante this year.
