Maybe next winter I would be up for a west coast get together. After I get done with my hike this fall I am going to finally enter the 'real world'. Portland, Seattle, and Denver are topping the places right now that I want to look at.

Let me add another vote to add a Campouts Forum to the Hammocking Camping section. Although there must be hundreds of hammock campers in the Pacific North Wet, the only time I saw another hammocker was when I arranged an outing with someone who posted on the Yahoo group. If there was a central location for posting outings information, maybe some of west-coasters could get together like you folks from the AT areas like to do.

I think it's a great idea.....good way to see who's looking for hike/camp partners and get involved in something that you may have otherwise not considered!

i`m thinking that what headchange4u was talking about in the 1st post was simply another category that you would see when you click on forums in the bar near the top the page (like hammock news, general hammock talk, hammock manufacturers, etc).
if it`s just another category under "forums", then it seems like a good idea to me.
Slowhike, I was under the same impression as you, and I also think a seperate "Event catagory" would be a good idea. I would sure use it. I would really like to meet the folks I am learning soooooo much from.

I think its a good idea. One of the best things about camping with others is being able to see different set ups and gear choices in the field.

I'd really like to see a "Trip Reports" forum but I s'pose reports are fine if published in the general forum.

hopefully we will continue to pick up hammockers from all over & the camp outs will become more wide spread, making it somewhat easier for those that are spread out across the globe.

I beg to differ. IMHO, this IS a great source for all things hammock related, although it does lean towards DIY, which is not a bad thing at all.

    AMEN, brother!!

I would like to see "campouts" as a seperate category, definetely not as a seperate site, which I don't believe is what anyone is really suggesting. I still have yet to participate in one, I just need to figure out which one I can get the time for.
