    Ring Buckle Question

Im thinking about converting my HH to ring buckles. Should I do a continuous loop of amsteel? if so, How big of a loop? What other ways could I set it up?

You could just use the original ropes on the hammock with rings. I did that at first. Then I chanced across a couple of whoopie slings. They are so much smaller and lighter than the Hennessy rope and rings. That convinced me to do the whoopie sling conversion.

So now I am using the whoopie slings with a marlin spike hitch and toggle. That shaved about a pound off the setup.

I did this on my HH by larks heading the rings to one end of each tree hugger. A biner (or Dutch clip) on the other end of e tree hugger and you are set. I did this for a while and it worked great using the gardia hitch with the HH rope.

I know a lot of people here are going to tell you to just use Whoopie slings, and you certainly could. To tell you the truth I did that on one of my Hennesy hammocks and I didn't like it. (BTW, I like it just fine on my other 'open' hammocks.)

I just finished putting a lighter weight cord back on and switching back to ring buckles. The way I do it is almost identical to JustJeff:

The only difference is that I dont use the 'biner. Instead I just thread the end with the rings through the other loop end and cinch it up to the tree. With this setup I can hang my hammock in no time flat.

I do something similar to Jeff as linked above only my rings are "permanently" connected to the hammock via some uber strong 3/16 line. Then I run the hugger around the tree and through a biner (I guess I could just loop through and leave the biners at home) and then run the other end through the rings. Works very well.
