On a whim I have decided to try hammock camping. I bought an eno single nest and straps( i suck knot tying). I have learned two things so far;
1 don't let your kids test your hammock for you, they fall asleep in it.
2 last year's corn stalks don't hold up hammocks well.
I look forward to learning more from all of you. Now off to find more trees...

Like you I started with an ENO and Slap straps. The hammock is great for lounging but the slap straps have a poor record of stretching overnight because they are nylon. A lot of people complained of their butts touching the ground by morning.
The more popular suspension options do not require knots and are very light if you are thinking of using a hammock for backpacking. Check out the suspension forum especially Grizz's 3 part series.
