    Decender Ring Suspension

Hey there guys, I know this information is probably on here is some palce or another, but it seems very spread out and I wanna make sure I get the right stuff to hang my new ENO Doublenest.

I'm planning on putting the two rings on with a Lark's Head knot, now, do I put both rings in the same knot?
Next question is on the strapping. I am looking at either polypro or polyester from strapworks, any reason to go one over the other? Then what size should I get? One inch is what I was thinking. Finally, what length strap should I get, I was thinking 6 foot, or maybe 8 since this I'm not worried about weight.

So my set up would be, decender rings, with the strap going through them, then the strap wrapped around the tree using the caribiners that come on my hammock.

Thanks! Can't wait for my first hang

Video = 30 frames per second. So I figger' 30,000 words in a second or 180,000 words per minute.

180,000 words per minute -- Shug can ya talk that fast?

ACtually, that was the video I got the idea from! Thanks! Still a couple questions that weren't addressed there though, how long of a strap should I go with, and what are the differences between polypro and polyester.

    Thanks!

I believe that polyester stretches the least of all the webbing materials. I use one inch polyester and have never had a problem with my descender ring suspension.

In terms of strap length, it really depends on where you are going to hang. Are the trees very large in diametre? Are they a little more spead out? Generally you will see anywhere from 10 to 15 feet recommended per end.

I have 12' straps and barely got around one of the oak trees I had to hang from when I was at Cumberland Island in GA.

Same here - 12' foot straps if I am using ring system with a Girda hitch. Proper steel rings, or SMC descending rings work great. As noted, put a slippery half hitch after it.

This is my favorite suspension! Love seeing it still has some fans.

Polyester is the best option IMO. I've never had any stretch issues and it seems to hold up well. I've used webbing that had been 'nicked' and it held. The webbing I used on the AT in 2008 is still in use today.
