    First hang yard test....

I hung the HH Expedition (used but new to me) a couple times yesterday to learn and get the feel for set up. First off I have to have longer straps the stock ones would not even go around one of the trees, on the other one I had enough to choke it.

Set up was easy. The first time I used the figure 8 wrap on the end I could and half hitches on the other. The second time, I did the wrap knot that they showed in the set up videos at Hennessy for the fly on the hammock support. It seemed to hold good, and let me adjust it easily, so I left that way.

I used a Thermarest SOlite pad and my bag and had no problems, was actually a little warm early on, slept very well, low temp 54 probably. So I’m now officially a convert….

I do think I will be adding some line to the fly and/or just putting it on it’s own suspension, so I can move it up, open it out and not have to angle it down in decent weather, put a bigger tarp on the wish list…. shape the bottom end of the pad so the corner isn’t poking the netting. I did wake up a little lower so I assume my knots slipped some, so I’ll add a wrap or two next time if I haven’t converted it over next time I use it.

    peace

Awesome!!! Sounds like a great first outing and learning experience. You will learn more and more each time you set up. I know I do. But remember this time honored saying...

Good deal....you will like that Expedition...the more you use it the stronger the bond....with it.
Dont feel bad if you lay in a different one now and then....that guilt feeling goes away in time.

After awhile it will seem like they all lay the same..... the wide ones....the ones that sag alot..

    It's all good.....Hang On.......
