Topcover for BB XLC zipper size?

    Greetings...
I want to make a top cover for my BB XLC since I have plenty of different fabrics to choose from at home. The issue I have is I'm not sure which size zipper Warbonnet installs on the NEW STYLE Blackbird XLC. It isn't a coil zipper and it seems to fall somewhere in between a 3 and a 5. (It should seem obvious that the number would be '4'. But....)

Does anybody have any idea the size of this?

I'm more than likely going to order a top cover from Brandon. I just want to goof around and see if I can make one work for my own kicks.

    Thanks for any input.

My BB is long gone, but distant memory tells me #3 coil zipper. Definitely go back to WB for confirmation... especially if you are sourcing a zipper to DIY it.

Not all zippers are created equal. When I made my hammock I bought #3 coils from two our preferred vendors and half-way through the build discovered that though they were both #3 coils, they were not interchangeable.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

    Mike,
I've made a few hammocks with bugnets and #3 coil zippers. The new style Blackbird's zipper definitely isn't a #3. Its larger. I may have to go ask Warbonnet. Hopefully they'll be willing to tell me what size it is or where they get their zippers from.

    Thanks for the reply.

Maybe a #5 coil? It's been a while since I had my BB so my these details are fuzzy at best. That said, my comment was more that not all zippers work well with each other..even if it's called a #5, something else. There are subtle differences between manufactures even if the size is the same. I would just call Brandon and ask.
