Welcome Campfire! I am a newbie around here too. I have hung exactly twice. I a very too small 'relax style' hammock. And it 'took' almost immediately. Now I am scrounging for better hammocks, lighter tarps, and alcohol stoves (although I am not supposed to take these on Boy Scout Trips).

And yes, Shug is the reason I am here also. Scarey the amount of control he has over people when they watch his videos. Wonder what would happen if we played his vids backwards. HHHMMM.

Oh now, you can't put ALL of the blame on Shug. Maybe 70 - 80% of it, but some blame has to go to Grizz, Ramblin Rev, Knotty, Just Jeff, SGT Rock and a mess of other pillars of this nuthouse.

Yep, I fall in that line of ignition by Shug! I've been hanging for years but Your entertaining videos created a passion that has been released like a sailor in Port. Thanks Shug!

Yep the glory is yours brother soak it up

Sarcasm aside I did know Shug via his You Tube channel along with medicjimr (can't wait), usframe & Ggreenvideos. Seeing those fellas show there rigs helped spur me into trying a different set up for my outdoor adventures.

I look forward to reading what grizz, justjeff & the others mentioned talk about on here. As they have traveled much further on this hammocking path than I have.

B.T.W. I just tried my first test hang last night & I have some dialing in to do. I did use a ridgeline, but I didn't give myself enough sag. More to come on getting it set for the best lay.

I've seen folks out on the trail hanging in their cacoons, but never really thought anything of it. Mostly I've either slept in tents, under tarps or under the stars, but always on the ground.

I just wanted to introduce myself to anyone that might happen to read this. This is a great resource & what an good community you all have going on over here.

    Take care
