Yes, but it's under-used, largely unknown and forgotten. It's a symptom of the human computer interface that your average user can't be bothered with a two click function.

Disregarding the negative vibe of giving a "terrible" rating could cause! I'd bet that more people would "like" a thread if a single click button were available, than currently "rate" it using the current system. As for "liking" comments, I can't see why that wouldn't work also.

IMO it is time to stop "Facebook creep". I am so tired of the constant Facebook modifications made to everything. Let's draw the line with HF. It doesn't matter if the thing would be linked to Facebook. The taint is there and that's enough. I wouldn't use it simply as a protest.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

No need to come up with a post, as it isnt contributing. But, its nice to know that your idea, thought, whatever, is appreciated. Anyway, thats my $0.02
Yes, I would have liked this comment and thanked oldsoldier for making it. ;-)

    Where did FB come from?

The like button has zero to do with FB.

except that they have popularised it and it's hard to separate the two in my mind.

Please don't take this offensively, as it is not intended to be such, however I'm aware that it could happen.

Let's play along with the idea of this being implemented... just for a second

If we had a 'like' button, by a general count here, you would have received maybe 5 or so 'likes' however since there is no way to differentiate between those that agree and those that didn't, so you would have never known that there were considerably more that disagreed with you, so it would have been assumed that it was liked not disliked.

Contrast that to what we have here where folks are more willing to express their opinions and you actually see what folks are thinking, which is more important to me than knowing someone liked a specific topic

Maybe I've misunderstood the intent here, but that's how I see it - just my opinion, good, bad, or indifferent.

I feel that everywhere I go now I am being asked to "Like" Something. Or fill a survey. Sorta gets tiresome and seems a fad to me.
What about a "Love" Button? I would prefer that
My feeling has always been that you can tell if someone likes or dislikes by the comment posted.
I "Like" that we do not have it on here.
