I would have been, too, but this summer I camped at a state park and hung my food from a laundry line someone had left up. I had no real bag for one food item, but hoped that by hanging it in the middle of a four of five foot line, and because my hammock was hanging from one of the same trees, the coons would be discouraged. Shining my flashlight scared one off once or twice, but after that, I actually had to move to get out of my hammock before the coon would back off. Eventually it got to be too exhausting and I had to get up in the middle of the night and string up a longer line. I put the new line farther from my tent, too, because by that time, I didn't care who ate my food as long as they let me sleep while they did it. The longer line worked though, and the food stayed safe, mostly. But the racoon quickly got over fear of the flashlight and my proximity when there was a chance for a free meal.
