Whoopee slipping

Just hung with my jrb whoopee for the first time. It's very slowly slipping to the point where I fall/decend a couple of feet overnight. Any suggestions that will help it stay tight?

I've double checked the JRB site, and it looks right. To tighten I pull the bury through the constrictor towards the tree. On all set ups other than the JRB, it looks like they are designed so that the bury line comes out of the constrictor towards the hammock instead of toward the tree. Will those differences in design lead to more slippage?

I put a slippery hitch with the bury where it comes out of the constriction. That helped, but when I watched the video primer, it said the need for that on the UCR tended to enlarge the opening where the bury occurs, and that was a downside to the UCR.

I did see at least one comment that the Amsteel tends to slip. I don't know if it's worse just because it's new, or if it will continue to slip.

Any suggestions? As always thanks for the help!!!

After you finish adjusting the sling you need to use your fingers to squeeze the bury and milk the amsteel towards where the tail exits. Imagine squeezing the the last bit of toothpaste from the bottom of the tube towards the opening. The same action will allow the amsteel to constrict on itself and when under tension the constriction increases and holds. No back up knots are needed. Hope this helps.

The JRB site does show it the opposite direction a whoopie is usually used. This shouldn't make any difference though.

The references to "milking the bury" actually refers to milking the outer constrictor toward the loose tail end of the bury.

The principle is just like the chinese finger lock toy. The WS only grabs and holds when the outer weave is tightend against the inner cord. The opposite is required to release you have to loosen the weave to allow slack to pass through. Quick and simple with no back up knot needed once you get it. I am 260# and get no slippage even with wet amsteel.

That makes me feel much better. I also weigh the same and just ordered whoopies after trying the ENO Slap Straps. Just too much stretch for me in the slap straps. Whoopies should be here within the next few days.

An amsteel whoopie should break before it slips.

Breaking point is at about 80% of the lines rating.
