    I don't get why an engineer would start out with a perfectly good ring and then stamp in a series of stress risers by adding a name or rating.

    I'm not sure what you're referring to, specifically. If you mean the Titan logo on the Ti rings, though, I think it's just paint. The snap shackle I bought has their logo, but the surface doesn't appear to be stamped.

    A lot of them are raised not stamped and I'm pretty sure it's part of the mold in the forging process so no extra stress is placed on the metal.
