    heavy person hammock

    Hi all,

I have been lurking and researching hammock options for backpacking. I have some of the typical problems with sleeping on the ground -- pressure points and I think a hammock would be ultimately more comfortable. My question relates to that I am a heavy person -- 300lbs. My husband is at 330 and 6ft. I am looking closely at the Mosquito Hammock's (claytor I think) Jungle Hammock and Fly that says it is comfortable for 7'5" and 350lbs and the Clark Hammocks -- either North American or Jungle but am concerned that it's comfort rating is only about 280lb for 6'. Are these hammocks actually comfortable for a heavier person? Will they work?

    Thanks.

i'm not as familiar w/ the ones you mentioned but speer hammocks )found in the articles section on this home page under "hammock manufacturers) has a stronger hammock rated to 350 i believe... & that's probably a conservative rating.
    and welcome to HF. ...tim

The clark will handle that amount of weight, but probably would not be the most comfortable due to it's width.

I think HAAB (Hook And Attached Bag) style hammocks Ticket To The Moon, ENO, and Trek Light are rated for 400lbs.

PLUS, if you get a double or king size, you'll have lot's of extra room for general comfort and laying diagonal.

Only Ticket To The Moon offers a King size. All the other listed companies have a double size.
