I will be taking my nice camera along next time. I'm currently designing a carrying system in my head for the body and lenses which will protect them. from blunt force trauma in the pack

I'll probably take one of my two nice prime lenses and a zoom.

As far as her staying under the tarp in the rain I think I've trained her to do that actually. She loves to sit out in the rain on the porch... but I wont let her anywhere near my hammock if she's wet and muddy. I've camped out enough in the back yard in the rain that I think she's made the connection to her-being-wet = no-laying-with-daddy

Camera and lenses can set you back a bunch so I wanted protection for them. I called my home insurer and added them to the policy I thought it would cost an arm and a leg but it was cheap $15.00 per year for $1500.00 worth of gear. No deductible, no deprecation, fully covered with peace of mind for just $15.00.

I gave up trying to carry all this gear. If i tried to lighten the load, then invariably i wanted/needed the lens that didn't make the trip. So now i carry a small camera that does a pretty good job, AND it will take videos as well.

I loved the trip report, great story. Thank you.

Just converted from a a P&S digital camera to a dSLR last month. Didn't even think about adding it to my insurance. Will take care of it with my insurance agent tomorrow. Great TIP!!!

Yeah, that actually is a good idea. I've invested in some high quality lenses. Mainly doing shoots for friends and family weddings and stuff for cheap and I turn that payment around into another lens

But I just live at home with dad. I'll have to work something out with him cuz I don't have insurance
