1st try at a Speer-ish

I spent a recent trip to the Gulf side of the everglades watching the noseeums invade my mosquito net. So I thought I'd give a DIY a try. I have seen some photos of the Speer Hammocks, and think they're pretty smart, so thats what I was shooting for.

No problems so far, though I might need to make separate guy-outs for the netting as its a little floppy at the moment. Also had some initial difficulty sewing the 3/8" velcro I bought so I swapped it out for some 1". Easier to work with, but kind of stiff.

I am happy with the black nylon and gold velcro. GO PITTSBURGH!

The Speer-ish hammock looks good but is that tarp big enough?

I think I'd be willing to brave the mosquitoes for a chance to hang on that beach.
