    Hello from West Sussex, UK

I have just joined up after looking at the site for some time. I have been doing meets & camps out in woods for a few years now and have been into hammocks for about a year now. I have a BMBH on the way, that I have just picked up second hand and have 100' of Amasteel also turning up in a week or two, which both came off BCUK. I thought it was time I got into hammocking properly so ther was only one site to join...

I will be looking at putting the Amasteel on the BMBH and then looking at options for underquilts. I can sew a bit and like the idea of making a underblanket or a ducvet, so will be studying the build threads for a while.

Thanks guys. I have been looking on here for a while and have decided that I want to get into hammoks and making gear some more. I have been using a cheap gathered end nylon hammock for several years, which I sleep out in for probably 2 weeks a year. I wanted to get something better so I picked up a BMBH the other day & am very impressed by it. It is one of the earlier ones with the tape to hold the bugnet on but it is brand new condition.

I had my first go with the BMBH today, which I took to some woods down the road & found a nice spot in the sun overlooking the hills of the South Downs (in the south of the UK). I put her up with the ENO slap straps I have been using and a couple of crabs, which will do for now until my BCUK Group Buy Amasteel truns up in a few weeks. I found it a really different experience & liked it a lot. I love the flat laying position and find the low sides a nice change from the high sides of my old hammock. I ended up spending the afternoon up there, just watching some lambs in the field below and thinking about life.

I have started to learn to sew & have borrowed my old Mum's sewing machine, a swiss made Elna?, which I have been using to make some stuff sacks and things. I must read some more before I have a go at making my own hammocks, quilts etc..
