Great price and it looks like a decent hammock. I would be a little worried about condensation with that fabric cover.

    Hi,
I've been looking into DD hammocks for a while in my search for my first hammock.
As I understand it that model is basically a Z hammock but withthe sleeper inside. Basically you could use it as a standard netless Z hammock.

I've been considering the travel hammock (basically the same Z style but with a bug net). I'm waiting for the new fly to come into stock, its to replace the current one that needs seam sealing before use.

From an email from Nick at DD hammocks

    > Our current Fly, as stated in the description is quite basic and may
    > require the seams to be sealed to ensure it is fully waterproof. Our
    > new one, tarp, will be available from December although we hope to
    > have it in stock before then. It will be a much improved design and
    > definately worth waiting for if you are not in a rush. It will 3m x
    3m
    > which allows you to use on the diagonal if you wish

More information, pictures etc available at their website http://www.ddhammocks.com/

I'm UK based so I'm glad to see that theres an option for me where I wont get hammered by shipping

    Thoughts ...

    Hmmm ...

A pound and a half, no bug net, no rain fly. Still has the same bottom insulation issues as any other hammock. Price is not bad though. All in all I think I'll stick with the Hennessy ULB or the Claytor Mosquito.

I have a DD Travel Hammock with the mosquito net. I also have a HH explorer ultralite. DD comfy and hangs well and quickly - DD has a wee bit of streach in webbing but not arse dragging kind...chief benefit for me (Canada hiking and camping) is the double layer bottom on the DD Hammock -- a pad (or other insulation ) just slides in easy peasy - it works! I added a wee bit of velcro along the edge so the pad even more firmly secured in the layered pouch. I like this hammock - not as comfy as the HH but not so much less comfy as one might expect- once you get the thing to North America (stoopid shipping $) and buy a good tarp not or so much cheaper than HH expedition or other similar hammocks...good hammock and good value.

There is a group buy going on the DD that ends today.
