I have been using them since 2005, but my recent change to whoopies has completely changed my opinion.
Looked at them and decided not to use them on my ENO Traveler. Whoopies all the way!

Used them for one night. Switched to whoopies as soon as I got back!
I still use slap straps, but I've got whoppies on my hammock so the slap straps are pretty much just used for tree straps at this point.

When you discard arrogance, complexity, and a few other things that get in the way, sooner or later you will discover that simple, childlike, and mysterious secret known to those of the Uncarved Block: Life is Fun.
Thought I was doing the right thing, bought them, then found HF and started reading the storys about SBS (Saggy Butt Syndrome) (need to add that 1 to the glossary), decided to take them back, I think I used them 1 time, and that was just for a few minutes. Now it's just whoopies and tree huggers.

Use them around the tree and whoopie slings. They still stretch and getting tree savers from jacksrbetter.com and Dutch clips.
I use my Slapstraps by wrapping them around my trees. Around and around. Around and around until I have no 'strap left. Then I just tuck in the loose end somewhere.
Next I put a strong 'biner through the 'straps and attach the whoopie sling that runs from my hammock. The metal of the 'biner allows me to adjust the whoopie easily without "sawing" through the 'strap. (As a kayak-camper I don't really care about weight.)
Finally, I put cheapo 'biners on all the loops on the 'straps that are wrapped around the trees and use them to hang my gear. Anyone who's been out with me knows I dislike dirt. I don't like it in my hammock, I don't like it in my boat and I don't like it all over my gear. So I like having my gear off the ground.
Also... I have three pairs of the bloody things - I had to do something useful with them. Using them for tree huggers and keeping my gear clean is "making lemonade."

So many trees, so little time...
That's a practical use for something almost useless! I like it!
Tim, Have you checked out Arrowhead Equipment for their Webbing Suspention Lines? You can buy them in what ever length you want at .50 a foot? I bought mine from a different source then discovered Paul's are 1/2 of what I paid.
