To justify my vote of "Yes, tried and still using them", I just have to say that I lend out hammocks fairly regularly. I've also had camps of more than a dozen people trying hammocks, but not having their own. Basically, I need lots of 'loaning gear'.

On my personal (nobody else gets to use) rigs, I wouldn't let SlapStraps anywhere near them. I've used them and decided that I've no use for them on my hammocks, but they still get used by others. Therefore, yes, tried and still using them...sort of.

I still have a pair somewhere in my gear bins, but I haven't used them in over 2 years. Went to descender rings and polypropylene webbing early on.

Fortunately I found the forums just about the same time I found my HH. tried webbing and a cam buckle from an old kayak strap. That stretched too much, was heavy, and bulky. Then started making woopie slings. Never looked back.

PS. Thanks to Shug first as his videos put me onto the forums.. and thanks to all who have posted the tutorials on making the slings.

Used them but went to whoopies. My daughter uses them but she's 3 so not enough weight to make much difference.

What a coincidence Mulligan! I am 3 as well!

Oh, wait. You meant YEARS, not hundred-weight.

    Nevermind.

    switched after test hang

Just came in from the backyard test hang and ordered whoopies. I wish I had found this forum earlier. I bought the SSPs along with a DN and ProFly. Test hang ended with my butt on the ground after one hour. ENO oughta be ashamed. I like their hammock and fly but the straps just plain SUCK.

    Research & Development

I sent ENO an email last week and tried my best to impress upon them that they should change their strap material to polyester. They called me the very next day! The young man that I talked too was virtually clueless! I patiently explained to him the issue and also put the bug in his ear that a large majority of us are dumping them for better options explaining why and even gave him examples.

He actually said they don't get too many complaints about their straps!!!! That's hard for me to believe but if that's true we should change that. He said he would pass my information on to R&D and check out the buzz on HF.

Enough customer input can make change! So let them know how their product has performed for you while their ears are open! I'll never buy straps from them again even if they change them. But at least it could save some unfortunate souls in the future from making the same mistake we did in buying them.

Mine are used to keep my pack off the ground overnight. My pack hasn't complained yet!
