very nice. I was there a month or two ago and had a great time. That is my favorite area in SC. Will be headed back there in a few week for a little hike in and camp in a hidden spot south of Burrells ford

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.

Great pictures thanks for sharing them.
Was that a Copperhead or water snake?

I would say it is a Water Snake because the head is not triangular shaped. Although it is not a clear shot of the head.

+1 on Chattooga River area. During the last 2 months I have hiked from Hwy 76 up to Burrell's Ford. Plan on heading up to Ellicot's Rock in the next few weeks. My wifes Blackbird arrived yesterday so we may make it an overnighter.

I'm hanging on the Chauga this weekend and hopefully this time tomorrow night I will be cozy in the hammock with a belly full of fresh trout. I've got to lay off the longer hikes for awhile until I get some medical issues taken care of. So, I'll be doing numerous trips on the Chatooga and Chauga in the coming months. Just got my fiance a blackbird and need to get her out on some easy hikes. Her first two were strenuous at Standing Indian and Mount Rogers so she's about ready to throw the towel in on this backpacking business. Hopefully a couple of easy hikes on the river will change her mind.
