im not doing hammock tarps, I think Brian has a fine product and there's really no need for competition. I might buy a MacCat for myself!

is there a need for quilt loops on those or have you found ya dont need 'em?

Do you make poncho tarps? I have an ID Ponsho Tarp I have used in the jungle, mountains and desert. It weighs 8 oz. I was hoping to replace it with a lighter tarp and also carry those cheap plastic ponch tarps as a system.
As far as the quilting loops I don't feel it is needed to keep the insulation in place. Heavier stuff like 3D or Polorgaurd needs it.

Jardine says the batt will rip eventually without quilting loops, he says he's tried it without them.

Yes but he uses 3D until recently switching to climashield I don't think the literature has been updated. So far I have a Fanatic Fringe quilt which is polorgaurd and a climashield quilt by me that I have not had any problems with for the years I 've had them. None have loops.

I'll take that as good news, I made a 40" quilt for my little boy and didnt do loops because the clima combat is about 38x30- small enough to stay put (?)

if you just roll rather than stuff, i dont see it ripping without the loops. probably better to roll instead weather it has loops or not.

That makes sense, that way you are always compressing the batt instead of tugging on it.

I don't use stuff sacks for my quilts. I put it in the bottom of the pack (Fanatic Fringe Alpine Trail) and put my gear on top only compressing what little space the rest of my gear takes up. Keeps the pack filled out even too.
