    Pines

Jerry, I have not been up Comb's Road to the pines in quite a few years. When I was up that way it was in a 4x4 and did not take note. Please re-fresh my memory. How much uphill is between the lot and the Pines? There is still a pretty good uphill from the Pines to benchmark 815. Thanks! Big Al

I should be able to make this one. I will probably go down on either Wednesday or Thursday.

    Pines off Comb's Road south

This camp spot has ever been one of my favorites. It's value enhanced by a distant and treasured memory, of a golden moment savored there with Mule and other old friends. As I remember. It was quite late that particular morning, as the warming sun had risen above the surrounding hills and shone down into the copse, upon our scattered slumber bound forms. Autumn had attained it's deepest stride. The trees had blushed to their fullest extent. Their bright multi-colored leaves carpeted the forest floor and graced it's ceiling with a bold, brilliant pallet of glory nature seldom achieves. Morning's golden sun was beaming down through the rich hued canopy. Rendering a mellow suffused light that bathed everyone and everything in it's warm pasteled benevolence. Through sporadic breaks in the overhead was revealed the purest and deepest azure of the vault of heaven ever witnessed by my soul. The wind soughed softly through the pine boughs as it wafted a great harmonious collage of nature's sweetest scents and provocative sounds before our collective senses. Slowly awakening we sat long, contentedly luxuriating over our morning coffee. As if entranced by the forest's spell. Purposefully drinking in this surreal moment of The Creator's Perfection. Knowing each in our own hearts, we may never again see this glory equaled! Or maybe it was just the brownies! Big Al

I'm not really sure what type of marketing that is but I'm thinking the brownies could be a baited hook if that's the atmosphere at "Tree Stump Coffee Bar & Confections". Hehe. Are you sure you weren't mushroom hunting?

    Cheers

Just to make sure I'm understanding you correctly, you're trying to say it was a beautiful fall day. Right?

    Morning in Pines

Yes gmcttr, You are correct. It was one of the most spectacular moments I have witnessed in my life. All wrought by the Creator. The last line is only a reference to an old joke. Up until a few years ago Comb's Road was open and ran all the way to Elkinsville. However you did need 4wd to negotiate the 2-track. Back then the Pines was a favorite place to camp along the 2-track. For a quick one night outing we would camp there and 4-wheel the area and several other legal places in the area. As always there were people who would not observe the rules and eventually Comb's Road was gated and then we all suffered lack of access. At the end the forest along the road was so torn up I was glad to see it closed and protected! Now that I am old and gimpy it sure would be nice if it was open. But that will never happen. Big Al
