New DIY UQ completes the set

Following up on the recently posted DIY Duck Down Top Quilt, I finished a UQ to complete the set. Since I now have two complete rigs (hammocks, stands, UQs & TQs), my daughter hung out with me for the “yard test” on Saturday night. She was a trooper on her first night sleeping outside in a hammock, the experience was a great way to celebrate Easter.

The quilt is a full length, 3 Season with 12oz of 750+FP Duck Down in 10 baffles.

Thanks, that's Molly hugging her new “UQ Duck”, we had a hard time getting her out of the hammock yesterday, can’t say that I blame her, between the two quilts, she was surrounded by 24oz of lofty down.
Molly has requested her own gathered end in "Electric Plum Purple" RipStop, it's next on the DIY list.

You have some fantastic skills! Is this the beginning of some home-grown Canadian cottage-industry hammock gear enterprises?!!

Oddly, that question has come up several times in the last couple of weeks but the gear I’ve been working on is not of my own design, they are fashioned from one or several other products. Through these projects I’ve gained a great deal of respect for the innovators without whom “Hammock Camping” would not be what it is today, several members of this community should be NASA engineers or top end “Industry based” gear designers at a minimum. I took my time with this quilt trying to avoid any mistakes, it took about 12 hours all in, can’t imagine doing it day in day out.

That being said, my ego want’s to make its mark so I’ve be expanding on a few innovative gear ideas? Based on the number of Hammock and related gear demo’s I’ve done in the last year, I firmly believe the Canadian cottage industry has room for another enterprise.

Thanks Brian, Molly’s definitely a photogenic kid (In my “Proud Father” opinion of course). The finished dimensions including channels are 78” length, 42” width, 2” baffles with 3” loft. Side note on the loft, In the future I will be compensating for 750+ FP by adding down, additional weight is the penalty for not using 900+, lower cost being the advantage.
