    WTB: Homemade leather belt.

I would like to buy a leather belt.

I am very sick and tired of buying cheap belts that tear apart over time. Thin pieces of cardboard that have a veiner of leather on top.

When I was 15 I had the chance to do some leather work, and I got to make my own belt, it is so sturdy and strong that I could still use it today (if I had the same waist that I did back then).

Before I look in the yellow pages, I wanted to ask the group; does anybody work with leather that would be willing to make me a belt?

Because I have no shame I will even post the size that I want:

    1.5" wide x 50" long x (0.25" thick???)
    I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.
    I use Linux.
    I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!

    Rug.

You can go to tandyleatherfactory.com and buy blanks. I just saw one for 6.49. It wouldn't cost that much to get the dye. You can go to a shoe shop and buy it there or order what you need from Tandy. Micheals crafts has a small leather section where you can get punches and stuff. I too learned leathercraft when I was a kid in Scouts. Might be fun for you to make your own!

+1 on the beltman. They are marketed mostly as a gunbelt, but they are awesome belts whether you are carrying a sidearm or not!

or the simplest way to get one is to go see your local shoe repair shop, they always have some leather to fix almost anything, it might not be fancy but it wil last you a llllllooonnnnggg time!!! and the price will probably be good as well!
    good luck
