    tarp guy line storage?

been looking for an ultralight to no weight way to easily manage tarp lines, especially after cold fingers on my last trip made trying to get the guy lines into a small rubber hair band pretty much impossible. has anybody just used a plastic coated "twistie" to wrap around coiled guy lines? i was thinking of velcro cable straps, but the twistie seems like it would be lighter and might work better. any thoughts?

Have you thought about snake skins/tent tubes? I leave my guys attached and simply remove the tarp from the skins and voila! My $0.2.

My tarp goes into snake skins. Rolls up easy, and very nice to have on windy days. Snake skins are fairly light. Mountaingoat can make them of mesh if you wish. I use them on my cuben tarp with a CRL, and the whole set up is under 8 oz. Hard to beat that.

Depending on the type of cordage you are using, you can just crumple things into a stuffsack and they don't tangle at all.

I use Dynaglide and do just this.

Many others use "no tangle" guyline with similar results.

Can't get much more U.L. than weighs nothing.

    tarp line storage

open your hand in your best Spock Vulcan sign. Wind your line in a figure 8 around your fingers. wrap the last 10" or so & tuck the end under. No matter what line you use...no tangles. And no extra weight.

I'll second the Spock/Vulcan/Figure-8 method. Works good for me. Sometimes when breaking camp I just wad everything up into the stuff sack and when I get home I hang the tarp to air and re-do the guy lines.
