    Sipsey Wilderness Damage

No as much a trip report as a condition report. Just returned from a 12.5 mile day hike with some friends. We hiked trail 201 to 209 to the recreation area. Several massive blowdowns on 201 and in one area has a large swath of downed trees. 209 has a lot of damage and blow downs from the river crossing all the way to the Bee Branch intersection. I have heard from some other hikers that hiked this past weekend that the Thompson Creek Trail (206) is in really bad shape. I suspect that the Quillan Creek area also received its share of damage. I know that Kinlock Road had downed trees that had to be cleared.

I can concur on much damage.

Saturday/Sunday Hetairoi and I kayaked Thompson Creek -> Sipsey River -> Sipsey Rec Area. There were many many blowdowns along the stream, and obvious damage along the riverside trails. Numerous places looked like tornado damage.

We met a few hikers that told the same story as you did. It seems the spring storms have left quite a mark.

I wish that I had taken some photos but I was too busy scrambling through the mess and trying to stop the bleeding and I was not even in the area hit the hardest.

You didn't mention bleeding in your first post. What happened that you were bleeding?

The bleeding was not major. Myself and the other old fart bleed easy and a number of
run-ins with brambles, briars, broken limbs, etc, scrambling through the blow downs
left us bleeding on our arms and legs. No big deal, just one of the trials and tribulations
    of getting older.

    Glad it was nothing major.
