1/2 UQ for Bridge and Clark hammocks

I finished my 1/2 UQ at about 2am Saturday for a 2 night hang. I made it to go on my bridge hammock. It is 36" x 36" with 3" loft. It weighs about 10.5 oz before shockcord. I used it the first night on my bridge and it worked great with a short pad for my legs. The temps were in the mid 30's. The UQ/pad combo worked better than anything else I have used so far.

The second night I wanted to use a Clark UL I just got. I had one before, sold it, and wished I had it back. I bought one from redbeard a couple weeks ago and wanted to try it out. I had planned on using pads but realized when I hung the Clark that it had two tabs on each side perfectly spaced for the shockcord on my UQ. It fit absolutely perfect. It was the best cold weather hang I had in a Clark. It was 29 degrees and I never felt cool all night. I spent many nights out in my old Clark fighting with pads and bags. This combo just moved to the top of my list for a hiking trip.

Love it when you get a bonus of being a perfect fit for something you did not plan on

I think these 1/2 quilts will be the new 'wave'. Amazing how well they work and I'm psyched that it is working well for others too. Great job!

    Sounds cool.
Didn't you have the double bottom bridge?
So did you just have the pad in between or did you have inside with you?
    IS that climashield?

Yes, it is a double bottom. I put the pad in the bottom half and it held in place on the bridge. With the Clark UL I put it inside and since it was only under the legs it wasn't bad.

I forgot to put that it is down from Speers.

cool so it looks like you you put in two baffles???
The way the middle is larger I suppose you are hanging it with the baffles running lengthwise??
I suppose you could throw a layer or two of climashield in the double bottom to take yourself a bit lower.
    I'd like to try this.
It's just that **** time thing!

It is 900 down from Speer's. I think the 1/2 quilts are easier to position than the full quilts. The 1/2 quilt was easy to use on the Clark.

2 baffles to make three sections.( 9",18", 9") I used the smaller baffles on the side to keep some of the down up around the shoulders. Runs lengthwise

The double layer would compress the XP too much to do any good. I carry a short pad anyway so this works good for my system.

I think this will take me into the teens for sure. I will know tomorrow, we are supposed to get to 18 degrees.

    Post underquilt

I really like that idea.Do you secure the UQ to the bottom of the hammock using the shockcord with the tabs that come on the Clarks?

Yes, I use the tabs with the Clark. I just put the cord lock thru the tab. I can make small adjustments while laying in the hammock.
