Thanks to all! I would like to work on the end to end motion, but works great as is using the end guy lines!
And glad nobody is too hard on my welding job! it is kinda like my stiches they aint pretty but do hold....most of the time!

I had to do something about the end to end motion! It just didnt feel stable! As meanmoe said I could have used some more conduit to brace the ends, but it would be hard to keep my compactness (is that even a word?) down. So I started of thinking of other ways to brace it! I figured I could do it somehow with rope/straps. The picture shows what I came up with(yellow lines are the new straps)! I used tie downs from harbor freight ($4 per pack - 2 packs). I cut the buckle end off the strap about 16" down then folded that tail end of the strap back on itself and sewed it to make a loop on one end a buckle on the other. Then I sewed a loop onto one end of the long strap that was left. I take the buckle/loop piece and larkshead it onto my top beam just after the first joint (about 3.5ft down the top beam). I then put a biner on the loop of the long strap and clipped it to the bent bolt attachment point on the legs (picture). Then connect the strap to the buckle and pull tight! Did this for all four legs. The stand is now so stable it will stand on its own without having to stake out/anchor the ends! Sorry about the paint work in the picture. I didnt have my camera when I had the stand up and did this the other day.
That's the bomb, brother! Looks great!

Surely, God could have made a better way to sleep.
Surely, God never did.
Woo Hoo!!! Someone actually used my design! Well, not entirely my design, a lot of other input... Looks good! Glad to help inspire more portable stand ideas.
Bad spellers of the world Untie!
Shadowmoss, I had some ideas floating in my head about using conduit, and then I found your thread and said that's it...and went to modifying!! Thanks!
I had another thought I wanted to add in case anybody wants to make this stand. If I made this stand again I would reduce the angle on the top corners of the ends (see picture). This would make it slightly taller and would reduce the width of the bases on each end. Mine is about 12ft wide, but 8 ft or so would be plenty wide and take up much less room!!
