Howdy from the PNW!

I like to backpack, fish and hunt. Although I live close to streams that produce 40lb Salmon, my favorite fishing is alongside high-mountain lakes. I'm doing more and more solo trips now - just me and a dog or three.

I'm on the other side of the half-century mark and have been backpacking since high school. As the years accumulate, the ground gets harder, and a good nights sleep can be hard come by on the trail.

I bumped into some "hangers" last year in a remote part of Idaho, at the tree line. They really gave me a sales pitch on the wonders of a hammock. That night, lying on the hard ground under a tarp, with lighting and hail, I started wondering if they might be right.

So I'm likely to become a hanger in the near future.

Hi am am new also and had my first campout in my new WBBB last weekend. It is a lot of fun and new things to learn. One thing I would offer is watch Shug's videos they are entertaining and very very informative. There is a lot of info here also.

I love the Sawtooth and White Cloud areas. It was at Island Lake, part of the Boulder Chain, where I met the hangers. I try to get in 3 trips in Idaho each year - partly because it gives me an excuse to visit the grandkids
