    New Hanger From MA

    Morning all,

I'm a brand new hanger from Massachusetts.

About 6 weeks ago I picked up an Equip hammock from Walmart and a Hammock Bliss bug net from Campmor. Made a couple of Whoopie slings and a ridgeline out of 1/8 Amsteal blue and away I went.

I have since switch to webbing and cinch buckles on the Equip (nothing against the slings I just like the webbing more) and have ordered a Warbonnet Blackbird 1.7 Double (felt like a kid on Christmas when it arrived). Currently using a Guide Gear Tarp (no tie out mods yet maybe next weekend), and have a poncho liner UQ in the works.

Anyway I would not have done any of this if it was not for all the information from this site. Thanks to the videos from Shug, Grizz, Ramblinrev, and many others I have learned more than I thought there was about hammocking.

Thanks Guys, keep up the good work.

    Jay

Welcome to the forums. I will second that coming to the group hang would be fun-its the first of, perhaps, a yearly thing!

Welcome to the forum. You are on a great start and fast too.

I hope to see you at the Mass hang.

Thank you for letting me know about the group hang but unless something changes I should be working that weekend.

It is kinda fast... The story goes I got the Equip hammock without knowing anything about hammocks at all. Thought $25 was a good deal. After setting it up for a weekend afternoon I quickly learned the many weaknesses in the suspension of a $25 hammock . So while looking for a solution I came across Hammock Forums and the magic Amsteel Blue.

The Equip is still a nice hammock for $25 as long as you get rid of what it comes with. Its a little heavy with the bug net but great around the house for a afternoon nap or car camping.
