    best hammock/UQ match?

forgiveness if this topic lies elsewhere... I realize the term "best" is highly subjective so Im going to only ask what others think is the best hammock to mate with a No Sniveller quilt. I realize the NS is made for a Hennessy but I dont own a HH!
I tried my darndest to use the NS as an UQ on a Travell Hammock (ultralight) but kept getting large air gaps when laying on the diagonal. I dont think this hammock is very good for an UQ setup. I even sewed some grosgrain loops to aid in hanging the NS - and used the JrB suspension kit - no dice.

SO now, Im looking for a decent hammock, and thinking of these top contenders:
    1) ENO single w/ netting
    2) Clark Ultra
    3) Warbonnet! arrrgh!

I really only want a netted, top entry style so I can add a Maccat seperately- but the Clark seems to be nice in the respect of having a top entry and a removeable tarp... will the NS fit the Clark Ultra?

*note, I dont care for the bridge hammock, only because Im trying to keep the weight of the whole shebang under 2.5 lbs. Also, HH is not my choice (dont care for the "birth canal" entrance.) Picky picky, I know.

i don't know about the clark, but i suspect the air gaps could mostly be overcome by fine tuning the adjustments when you use the NS on any top loading hammock.
but i've not spent as much time w/ underquilts as some of the others. we'll see what they say.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

thanks, Slowhike. I tried and tried to tweak the system and I was having a problem because the quilt would be tight at the torso/shoulders and have gaps from the waist down. (thus over-compressing the down where I need it most) I dont think it should have been that hard and created such a fuss- since the instructions on the Jack's website are very simple and thorough, a "set it and forget it" tutorial. I was just wondering if the shape of the Travell Hammock does not work well with my quilt. Plus, I want something more versatile while remaining as light as possible. 36 oz for the Clark sounds really good. I may be mistaken and Im listening to other hammock brands' users to chime in.

I guess you have contacted the Jacks to see if they have any ideas on how to make it fit the hammock you have? If it will work well with a Speer hammock ( will it? I have no experience with either the quilt or travel hammock ) then I'm at a loss as to why it won't work with your hammock.

I have a PeaPod that I have used on a Speer 8.5 and a Hennessy net free ASYM Safari. These hammocks are very different in size and cut, and the Speer PeaPod fits better on the Speer hammock, but it still works well enough to be warm on either hammock. So I assume it will work ok with any top loader style hammock unless it is just a really huge hammock- then some alterations might be needed. But, it is an overquilt as well as under, so that is a dif. But the dedicated UQ users- or the Jacks- will probably hopefully have better answers for you.

How is the Travel hammock shaped? Is it different from a Speer?

They are just a basic cinched end hammock. A lightweight version of the TTTM, ENO, and TL hammocks. I'm surprised that a NS isn't fitting right, but I never tried putting an underquilt on my Traveller.

So much time and many changes have gone by, but I think the Warbonnet Eldorado (fat kids version) was 19 or 20oz. in it's 'stock' mode. That gives you a whole pound (plus) of extra, which just happens to be the weight of the torso UQ.

Man I need to lighten up my system.

2.5 is doable if you don't count all of your insulation with it.

yeah, sorry- I meant "shebang" meaning the hammock, netting, and fly along with huggers and cording. Of course the NS and my top quilt will be closer to 5lbs
Warbonnets on hold until he gets some nasties swept away?

Ah yes the cookies. I still can't shop for food without buying some. On my hike I think I ate some almost every day. Breakfest of champions.

When I get my scale I will start weighing them so I can establish the cookie as a unit of weight measurement.
